Team Liquid Alienware beat Anyone's Legend 2-0 to eliminate the LPL's top seed from the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage without a game win. The result keeps the LCS champions alive and sets up a deciding series against LOS on 30 October.

Anyone’s Legend arrived at Worlds 2026 as China’s top seed. Team Liquid Alienware delivered the final blow in a series that began at 15:55 CDT.

Liquid controlled the opening game from the red side. They closed it in 33 minutes and 13 seconds with a 16-5 lead on kills. Top laner Morgan finished 7/1/6 on Camille. The second game was a far longer contest. It ran to 47 minutes before Liquid sealed the series, with Yeon’s Xayah playing a key part in the result.

For Anyone’s Legend, the defeat capped a collapse. They had already lost best-of-one matches to Karmine Corp and Top Esports before the Liquid series. Such an exit had no precedent for a Chinese top seed at Worlds, Dot Esports reported. It is also the second Worlds in a row in which the LPL’s first seed failed to get out of the Swiss Stage. Bilibili Gaming went out in Round 5 in 2025.

Anyone’s Legend and Team Secret Whales were the first two teams knocked out. Each finished joint 15th-16th and receives US$90,000 from a total prize pool of US$5,000,000. Earlier the same day, LOS had eliminated Team Secret Whales, the LCP’s top seed, with a 2-0 win that gave Brazil its first victory of the Swiss Stage.

Liquid return to familiar ground against LPL opposition

The significance stretches beyond this tournament. Fittingly, the LCS’s previous series win over an LPL team also belonged to Team Liquid. They beat Invictus Gaming in the MSI 2019 semi-finals.

Liquid came into Worlds as the LCS’s first seed. They earned that spot by beating LYON 3-1 in the 2026 Summer grand final on 4 October. Their Swiss Stage campaign started badly, however. Defeats to CTBC Flying Oyster and Bilibili Gaming left them a loss away from elimination before the Anyone’s Legend series.

One more win keeps Liquid’s campaign alive

The sweep leaves Liquid ninth on a 1-2 series record and 2-2 on games. Under the Swiss format, teams go through to the Knockout Stage with three match wins and are knocked out with three losses. Elimination and advancement matches are played as best-of-three with Fearless Draft.

That makes Liquid’s next series another must-win.

It is followed on the schedule by Hanwha Life Esports against G2 Esports at 18:00 CDT.
