LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov has confirmed that LEC Versus will not return in 2027, with the league reverting to its classic 10-team winter format. Bykov made the confirmation in an interview with Sheep Esports at the LEC 2026 Summer Finals in Nice, France, on Sept. 19.

LEC Versus launched in 2026 as a winter tournament folding two Tier 2 EMEA Regional League sides into competition alongside the ten LEC partner organizations, marking the first time since 2019 that ERL teams faced LEC opposition on the top stage. According to the primary evidence, that 2026 run will be the format’s only edition.
Bykov said another ERL route into the LEC isn’t currently planned for 2027, pointing instead to outside organizers developing Tier 2 competition independently, including the newly announced World Star Challengers Invitational (WSCI).
